About Us
Werneth Jamia Masjid was first established in 1976 in the Werneth area of Oldham. The aim was to allow the community a place to worship, and for children to learn the fundamentals of deen, while also providing youth services during school holidays

MASJID
EXPANSION PROJECT
In 2000, the community felt that the ever-growing needs of the new generation and elders, could not be adequately fulfilled in the current building. With attendees regularly having to pray in the shoe area on Jumu’ah and Eid, and classrooms overflowing with over 150 students in the madrassah, it was decided to purchase land adjacent to the current building. The new building would be able to cater for the huge number of attendees in jumu’ah, taraweeh and Eid, and allow the madrassah to flourish further.
The Project
The masjid expansion project is estimated to cost over £2million. The next couple of slides will show some of the following work which has been carried out mostly through the generous donations of the local community.
• Creating basement/mud and muck, shift land excavation £15,000
• Groundworks piling
• West Coast Piling £60,000
• Dew Piling – Silent Piling £48,000
• Ground beams and retaining walls £50,000
• Drainage/Rainwater Harvesting Tank £15,000
• Steelwork £320,000
• Block/Beam floors £60,000
• Brick and block work including scaffolding and project management £330,000.

OUR APPEAL TO YOU
As the previous slides have shown, the Masjid expansion project has come on leaps and bounds since it started. You also saw how the local community has spent almost £1million to get the project to where it is. We are a small community and have tried our best with the help of Allah. We now humbly and desperately appeal to you to generously donate towards the building of this masjid so that the project can be completed as soon as possible.
For this year of 2023, we are focusing on making the building completely wind and water-tight. This will include
£150,000 Remaining
money for the roof work

The Prophet peace be upon him has stated that whoever builds a house for Allah, Allah will build a house for him/her in Jannah.
The masjid is the best from of sadaqah jaariyah (continuous charity), as this is where the daily salah, jumu’ah, taraweeh, iftar, classes and study circles happen. Imagine all that reward in your book of deeds.
Please donate generously.
